The new conference season got off to a great start in Porto, where the VIROMARKERS team joined the European Society for Clinical Virology (ESCV) Congress from 16 to 19 September 2026.
One oral presentation and three posters were brought during the meeting, featuring selected results from the project’s research activities:
- HIV resistance testing EQA schemes Rolf Kaiser (UniKoeln)
- Distinct patterns of HBsAg isoforms display viral activity and characterize disease stage in the setting of chronic HDV infection Ilaria Grossi (UTOV)
- Long-read sequencing reveals extensive HBV-DNA integration capable to sustain HBsAg production and HDV persistence Stefano D’Anna (UTOV)
- Evaluating CMV‑RNA as a marker of active replication in allo-HSCT patients during and after letermovir prophylaxis Caterina Tramontozzi (UTOV)
ESCV 2026 represented a chance to catch up with the clinical virology community, share our work and follow some of the latest discussions shaping the field.
